5 Success lessons you can learn from Shattawale

Today on my guest blog, I am featuring The most influential Musician in Ghana, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, better known by the populace, Shattawale.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr ‘ story has been such an interesting one after a halted music career after his early exposure.

Fast forward, coming back strongly to recapture his place in the Ghanaian music scene amidst undefined speculations and backlashes from the media and it’s critics, Shattawale has proven beyond reasonable doubt that so far as there is life, the future is still brighter.

I have carefully outlined below, after three years of monitoring the activities and dealings of one the most energetic and Influential musicians in Africa; Shattawale, here are five success lessons you can learn from the Dancehall King, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr ( Shattawale ).

Consistency – Be Consistent and Different

Talk about a consistent artiste, performer and musician, Shattawale is undoubtedly on top of the A – list.

Being consistent applies in every facet of life, especially when you have something on your mind.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr is such an intelligent artiste who does not mess up with being consistent.

Learn to Reinvent Yourself

After a halted music career between 2006-2010, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr took time to Reinvent and rebrand himself from his style of music to a better level. Not only that, he even rebranded his name; from Bandana to Shattawale.

What am I trying to imply, branding is very critical and that you should be prepared for it. It may seem easy as just changing your stage name, but frankly if you don’t come out strongly, you will fade off quickly!

Be a Leader and take risk

Shattawale is one of the very few African artistes who command a great number of followers both online and in the physical world. As a leader of Ghanaian Dancehall Music and it’s revolution, Shattawale exhibits the greater skill of what you could term the ‘Nkrumahist Style of leadership in Music’.

Being a Leader is not easy, left alone combining it with other skills.

Be Yourself and never settle for less

If you will ask me personally, Charles is the only Ghanaian artiste who has been real to himself and everyone since he bounced back into the music scene.

Despite his great sense of humor, Shattawale is a Mr. No – nonsense man. Exceptionally good at what he does, Shattawale is one artiste who never settles for less.

Work hard, harder and never give up

Work hard, harder and never give up – I guess this is self explanatory. Mr. Armah Mensah Jnr could have just say he’s retiring from making music and concentrate on other things but that isn’t the case. From bed to the studio, to signing deals and endorsing brands, Shatta doesn’t seem to be giving up on his career as a professional musician and Businessman anytime soon.

Now that’s called harder-work. It is not Shocking that he enjoys flaunting his assets on social media. That’s the fruit of hardwork and the spirit of never giving up in life.

With all being said, it is important to reckon that, ‘without passion, hardwork is useless’ – as quoted by Kobylarry.
